Should I schedule an interview? They didn't ask me to. Should I just call them and tell them I want one? I'm not even sure that I want one, I've already visited.

I had one. I would say it was probably the most productive of all the admissions interviews I have done. I felt I learned a lot of great information about the school (specifically social/political stuff) and I felt that the interviewer asked the right questions and I was able to tell her what I wanted her to know about me.

They're not mandatory, so it's your call. Don't stress about it if you don't get around to it.

Do you think it will make me look really good if I ask for one? I'm applying as an international student, but I actually live like 2 hours away from Grinnell. I'm thinking give me an edge over the other international applicants.

Definitely ask for one, especially if it's not a stretch to do it. I had one, and it was a really nice interview.

what sorts of thing do they ask?

Mine asked what 5 things I would bring to a desert island. Basically they ask you about your high school and you in context of your high school. He did ask me what I would bring to Grinnell. Now, I can write that in an essay, but saying it right to someone's face seems a little conceited to me, so I think I did badly on that part.

Hmmm, my interview was a bit different from the guy above me. It mostly flowed like a conversation. No hard questions or anything. We talked about the music program at Grinnell, the political atmosphere, if I liked my high school, and then the standard stuff about grades, test scores, ecs, etc.

Was it an admissions counselor or an alumni? I'm going to actually go to the campus.

Admissions counselor.

Mine was with a student.

i signed up for one today. it's going to be on campus, most likely with an admissions counselor. Did you guys dress up?

No. Actually, I was probably wearing a polo shirt which was dressy for me...but I would say that it is not necessary at all to dress up.

Is it weird if you name drop? A senior that went to my high school last year goes there now and apparently got a huge scholarship to go there.
