Have you received aid disbursement yet?

I still haven't. Two weeks ago I got an email that said they would disburse after 5 days but still nothing. I need that money NOW to buy books and a laptop.

This is what I found online:

Remaining funds will be disbursed beginning:
Fall Quarter Monday, September 21, 2009
Winter Quarter Monday, January 04, 2010
Spring Quarter Wednesday, March 24, 2010

How am I supposed to pay for those things if we receive the money the day school starts? If I order my laptop and books the 21st, there's no way I'll receive them on time. The books could take weeks and the same thing goes for the laptop. This is so much bullshyt.

I suppose you can get overnight shipping or something, School starts on the 24th.

and as for the laptop you can go to the actual store and get it.

Of course I can do that but what I’m saying is that I’ll save a lot more money if I don’t overnight ship the books and I custom configure my computer online. And when I say a lot, I’m talking hundreds.

Just use the school until you get your stuff. Irvine has computer labs with almost all the programs you need for class and libraries usually allow you to read books for like 2-3 hours.

If you can’t do that… I think your best option would be to talk with the financial aid office.

You can try asking your parents for the money and after you get the disbursement aid, you can send your parents a check on the amount you spend for book and supplies as soon they deposit into your bank account.

Ya well in the real world, my dad doesn’t have a job, my mom is likely to lose her’s, we’re financially bankrupt, we have nothing in the bank and bad credit. ***** my life. We used to make $100,000 a year and now we make nothing. I feel like giving up.

relax, man. first off, you don’t need books/laptops on the first week of classes. many people actually dont even use laptops (pencil and paper, never fails unless you have crappy handwriting like myself). there are course reserve for books that u can borrow from the library (2-4 hour rentals) while you wait for the books to come. take a deep breath!

im actually waiting for my dispersement for thew new ipod touch and gaming rig :D

I rec’d my books from Amazon in 4 days. The new books were cheaper than the UCI bookstore and if you buy at least $25, the shipping is free. The used book sellers on Amazon cost $3.99 for shipping. I got one used book for $2 + 3.99 shipping, still cheaper than the UCI bookstore and got it in 3 days.
