I sent my request card a week and a half ago. Should I have received it by now? My stats are in the range of others that have posted.

Takes about two weeks. Also the early you apply, the more the likelihood of getting a card.

Does applying earlier increase chances?

*of getting into the program

I just sent in my card today...is that bad news?

applying early just helps your chances of getting the HPME aplication not admission into hte program!

oh ok...i hope i get one lol

I sent mine on Nov. 8 and I received the app today (Nov. 19). The letter was dated Nov. 15.

It involves a personal history essay on why you want to be a doctor...ugh I hate writing this kind of essay.

thats like the essay every combined degree program wants though

agreed, mr. sanguine.

wait snuff, so is that the only part that requires some writing (i.e. no short answers or other essays besides the "why medicine" one?). would you mind quoting the exact question for those of us who have sent in our cards but hopefully will be receiving the hpme app? thanks so much!

wat is the unweighted gpa cutoff for receiving the hpme application? (i'm at a 3.66, which i knowwww is crazy low)--i'm just hoping my sat numbers and ap/honors curriculum will make up for that low gpa...somehow...

Oh is it? I'm only applying to this one and Rice's so I wasn't aware of that... Does the Rice/Baylor program also require one of these essays?

Yeah sure papucutta, here's the prompt verbatim. Hope I'm not violating any rules or anything...

Write an essay including a personal history, your reasons for wanting to study medicine, and why you are interested in the Honors Program in Medical Education. Please limit your essay to two pages. List activities and honors on a separate page. Type your full name and Social Security number on each sheet. Please use single or double spaces.

Yeah that's the only part of the HPME app that requires writing. The regular NU app of course has its own section, but you know that already.

Rice/ Baylor has 2 essays on their supplemental app. Last year the quesions were one extremely similar to that HPME question you gave and one asking about your favorite experience outside of school ( i think).

for the HPME app, do you think that the committee just reviews your HPME app or both the HPME essay and your NOrthwestern application/essays? Just want a clarification, thanks! :)

1 woman reads your HPME app and only your HPME app!

Do you need to have alumni interview for HPME?

nope, but it just like any other college alumni interview, it probably helps a bit and just a bit

I received my HPME app, and I'm confused about the "personal history essay" part.
At the bottom of one of the pages of the application, there's a three-part essay. It's three different questions, but is this the personal history essay? Or do I need to complete a personal history essay in addition to this (these?) one(s)? The wording was pretty vague.
Thanks!
