Have you seen the urban dictionary definitions of college confidential? Lol.

Here is the top definition:

Among the worst websites on the internet. A place to go where you can read about snotty geniuses who feel the need to brag in the ultimate attempt to make the “average high school student” feel pity on the themselves. An absolutely awful website that privileges and celebrates the Ivy League-Potential student, while completely forgetting about everyone else.
Jonathan from New York: Hello, my name is Jonathan from New York. I was wondering if I could get into any college in the entire universe with these shitty grades and these terrible credentials. Will someone please help me!? Here goes: 5.0 GPA (on 4.0 scale); 1600 SATs; participated in every club in my high school; Started 12 new clubs/became Club President of each respective one; was Valedictorian of my class; participated in Community Service; Volunteered all over the place; Held jobs at 8 different workplaces; Wrote an amazing College Application essay; Teachers wrote excellent recommendations about me/sent those to the colleges; participated as Captain of every available high school sport team; played 4 different instruments/played in Jazz Band/Orchestra/Marching Band/Symphony Band/Choir… Oh yeah, and my high school is ranked #1 in the entire country… WHAT ARE MY CHANCES PEOPLE??? HELP ME!! I’m just so worried, and I probably won’t even get into the nearby Community College!! HEEEEEELLLPPPP!!!

ME: You ignoramus!!!

The other ones are pretty funny too. What do you guys think? In my opinion, it is somewhat true…

There is a thread about this topic. But, yeah, pretty true. Sometimes you just need to feel inadequate to do better, know what I mean?

@Frigidcold Oh I will look for that thread. Yes, I agree!

There are already several threads on this. Still pretty true though

The guy in the description doesn’t have any national rankings or awards. He’s most definitely not getting into college. And he doesn’t have SAT 2s. How dare he even dream.
:))

It’s kinda true! :))

Please, It says 1600 satS look at the s. Clearly 1600/800 on SATII, if you can 5.0/4.0. That’s as good as any national rankings

they aren’t wrong… so many stuck-up people here.

Yes @bluecatch i was waiting for somebody to make this thread. SO many things are true lolol. i got 34 aps, valed, 1 B makes me cry, etc.

There ARE people who come on here solely to brag about grades and whatever, but most people I’ve met are actually really great people. A lot of people on other websites I visit talk about how toxic CC is, especially on the Class of ____ threads, but that’s not true at all – everyone’s super helpful and we try to stray away from talking about personal GPAs/extracurriculars.

We’re all a bit paranoid about college apps, which fuels some of the “oh no, I got a B” mentality, but frankly, I think a lot of this is exaggerated (although I do try to stay away from the Parents Forum). CC has evolved.

This definition only pertains to the trolls in the “What Are My Chances” forum (a place that should be avoided at all costs), or the HSL posters that create one humble brag thread and leave. As far as regular posters, most people here are a lot less snobbish and always willing to help. I can definitely say I’ve learned a lot from CC, and that it has been a helpful tool in my college search.

I kind of think that’s true! I’ve had to transfer to three different high schools, and I’m sure without this I would’ve been in Honors/AP classes. But, more than a few students here don’t approve of my “normal” classes…
