Have you too gone through this?

You're a bright eyed Freshman who is convinced you're Harvard bound, and then suddenly, high school happens, and four years later, you're like "lol nope."

Because this is what has happened to me - and its disappointing and hilarious at the same time and I don't know how to feel.

My Ivy League dreams were dashed once I came across the "Chance Me" threads on this website. LOL.

lol nah, I’ve been on CC ever since I registered for high school classes in eighth grade. So I’m pretty much fully aware of how tough it is to get into an Ivy League school. I never venture into the Chance Me threads because there are too many desperate people and I don’t really think too much about college anyway, pretty much just focusing on getting good grades and continuing to pursue my interests. I kinda just hang out in the HSL section haha

Really I have. I am getting a 4.0 and on a good track but then I feel this knowing that so many other kids are doing tons of extra curriculars like curing cancer and shtuff. I really need to do a few clubs before I graduate. I’m thinking of starting a debate team and joining AcaDeca next year. My school isn’t great at these so hopefully it helps me. I learned from other CCers that I shouldn’t really try to make myself super outstanding just for a college, and that I should pursue my own interests for myself. Many people try so hard just to get into college, not for themselves.

Yeah, I’m taking a class taught by a Princeton student and he keeps telling my friends and I that we’re smart enough to get in. We’re just like LOL NO.
Plus, he’s like a triple legacy or something, so he had admission in the bag.

You described my high school career perfectly. However, my chances for the Ivy League were crushed more by my own slacking on grades than my environment.

I never wanted Ivy League. I’m a first generation college student so I really wanted a college that was right for me. I did a TON of research during my sophomore year but I wasn’t sure on a major until junior year and then I found my dream school. I looked at the Ivies but I knew my stats were too low and they didn’t have exactly what I wanted.

Freshman year - “I’ll be going to community college because that’s all I’ve ever heard of!”

Sophomore year - “I’m going to MIT because that’s all I’ve ever heard of other than community college and it’s probably better!”

Junior year - has semi-realistic plans

Freshman - I’m going to Stanford

Sophomore - I’m going to MIT

Junior (now) - I’m going to be rejected from every school

Yes, I wanted to go to Yale or NYU and then realised it was never going to happen and well now I have no idea!

Freshman Year- “omg if I don’t go to Brown I’m going to hate college!!!”
Sophomore Year- “OMG i need to be such a try-hard to get the grades for Brown!!”
Junior Year- “I actually have a decent shot at Wesleyan. If I don’t get in there, I might get into Carleton College or some other really cool place. lol Brown wut?”

Freshman year: “ERMAGERD HERVERD.”
Used to wear an H hoodie and everything.
Sophomore year: “HARVARD OMG YES.” Still wearing Ivy hoodies.
Junior year: “Yay, Ivies.”
Senior year: “I just wanna go to college.”
Gap year: “I should prolly ready myself 4 CC k.”

@alexissss - Freshman year, I used to rock my Harvard sweatshirt like it was no one’s business. Oh, how naive I was.

I’d never wear a shirt for a selective school until I actually got in. I mean, how much would it suck to have that hanging in your closet if you got rejected?

@preamble
Saaame. lol

@heather
Learned my lesson. I threw away the H one bc it got ruined. Still have the Yale one, though.

pathetic

I live in Michigan, and I’ve always just wanted to go to U of M. I’m a junior, and my plan is pretty realistic. I just gotta keep working hard and pray. :D

^
I hope my admission to Michigan is realistic too. Though I’m OOS so it will be more difficult.
