Have You Used a Coach, and Did It Help?

Just wondering if any of you have used coach to assist with the music school application/audition process, and did you find it to be valuable/productive? Feeling that we might benefit from help finding the best fit, figuring out the financial side, etc. BUT you all have been so generous and helpful with your advice, that I feel we already know a lot of what a coach might tell us. Lol. Would it still be useful?

We did not use a coach but rather relied heavily on my D’s voice teacher. That relationship paid dividends I could not have anticipated.

The best thing we did was to visit the college of son’s choice in his junior year. He took a lesson from a professor in the dept he wishes to study. Our son had a list of questions of what it takes to be considered for admission at the college of interest. The very kind and helpful prof gave son suggestions for excellent summer programs and mentioned an excellent teacher in our area, as son had outgrown his current teacher. This visit turned into a to do list for the preparation of applying. Consequently, the summer program the prof (from the school he visited)recommended turned up other college opportunities and offers.i think quite a few profs will share their knowledge if a hard working, eager kid asks them:) we paid for lessons from college profs, but it was worth the money!
