vttoodler: Her SAT scores were average (1060/1680) and her ACT composite was 28. She has never been a great standardized test taker: she follows in both mom and dad's footsteps - LOL. Her class rank was 32/555 and her GPA was 3.4. She took all honors and some AP classes throughout high school.
What I believe made her stand out and enabled her to receive many of these scholarships was her community service/extracurriculars/out-of-school activities. She had approximately 700 hours over the 4 years of volunteer work, was very active in school and community theatre, and held a part-time job as well as being a reporter for a local weekly newspaper. She had a very nicely put together Summary Sheet of her Activities and Accomplishments and wrote some really great essays for the scholarships. As I said before, it was almost a part-time job keeping track of these scholarship applications (for both of us, as she did the work and I put the packets together and mailed everything out), but it certainly paid off for her.

Wow, your daughter is very commendable--hearing about what she has done has inspired me. thanks for posting this, btw.

VToodler: Thanks for the nice comments.

My son used Fastweb last year and did get a $10,000 scholarship from Mercedes-Benz Drive Your Future...I recommend Fastweb but agree that local is your best bet.
