Describe your experience in the provided space.

Yes. But I kinda provoked it, since I always came to class 20 minutes early when most of the time it was just me. And that I was also interested in the same subjects he was teaching.

Our teachers are really hot so they get girls flirting with them all the time. They’re pretty used to it by now I would think…

I don’t really induce flirting. Just some lunch/after school questions and playful teasing/jokes. It’s hard not to stare though. haha

The good looking teachers are mostly young, so I would imagine that they fear for their job. I haven’t seen them openly flirt with anyone, but once you get to know them it’s really just harmless bantering.

One girl in my grade actually had sex with a teacher (he was in his late 20s/early 30s). Of course, somehow they found out and he got fired. I hate how all the punishment got dealt on the guy.

I think the whole “minor having sex with an adult” was the main issue. Apparently teachers aren’t allowed to meet their students outside of school (or something along those lines) either, which is probably to prevent unlawful sex. But I went to get some coffee/lattes with my English teacher and we just discussed books/essays etc. It was educational and relaxing. I don’t see why that should constitute as compromising for his job…

I hate those laws. She clearly knew what she was doing, even if she was only 17.

^On the other hand, everyone knows the law. How hard is it for the teacher to control himself?

I’m not saying he’s not to blame.

I just think both parties should be at fault, not just one.

But if she could be held responsible, it wouldn’t be a crime, would it?

It could be a crime, in which both parties receive consequences?

I don’t know. The age thing is a little perplexing. So if you’re 17, you don’t know any better and the other party shoulders all the blame. But if you wait a year, then you’re suddenly an adult.

Even if the law didn’t punish the girl, I’m sure her parents/teachers/peers inflicted some punishment on her. Did they?

Yea, but the guy is probably still searching for a job right now.

“I don’t know. The age thing is a little perplexing. So if you’re 17, you don’t know any better and the other party shoulders all the blame. But if you wait a year, then you’re suddenly an adult.”

Yeah, that’s the thing. Not even a year, you could be a month, a * week * off your 18th birthday. How would you suddenly know better?

I’m sure she got punished in another way though.

^^^^That seems like punishing people for having sex. Which would be odd.

About the “you don’t suddenly know better when you turn 18”: For legal reasons, you have to draw the line between child and adult somewhere, even though it is a much more gradual process in RL.

The girl even had a boyfriend who was still with her for a while after. They were still together at graduation (I don’t know about now in college).

Her friends definitely didn’t change.

I’m sure her parents did something, or maybe she made it sound like he was the one entirely at fault.

I dunno, this kind of thing can either work for or against a girl’s reputation.

^^^ No, it’s punishing people for breaking the law.

Btw, the teacher held power over her. In Michigan it is not illegal to have sex at 16 but it is illegal to have sex with teachers. Why? Because teachers hold POWER over students whether it is blatantly used or not. Too many ways it could go wrong. If they want to have sex then he should wait until after she graduates. He should be the adult and tell her no (since legally he IS the adult). If they still feel attraction after graduation then great. If not well then it’s probably good they didn’t have sex in the first place.

FWIW, my AP English teacher married one of his students after she graduated from college. They’ve been together for 15 years and had their first child.

…I think it would usually work against a girl’s rep. Not like it really matters. It’s high school.

There was another thread about a guy having sex with his teacher and people were congratulating him.

^ He was a ■■■■■ and everyone knew it. Btw, double standards make me ill.

Punishing people for having sex - yes, but unlawful sex. Like punishing someone for having sex with his daughter or something.

Ugh, but the law itself is kind of…questionable. I guess that law exists because nobody wants someone in a position of authority to push someone younger and “impressionable” into sex. But if they both knew what they were doing, and she wasn’t benefitting from it any other way…

I don’t know. Grey area.

Edit: Just saw romani’s post. Guess I agree.
