Yes! me too, and one of my friends who applied RD too has already been contacted!! its making me nervous

Not to worry…my son was accepted ED…he was never contacted for an interview. It seems to be less common to get an interview than not.

I’d be more nervous if I got an interview! I know I will though, cause my friend applied ED and she had an interview with someone from our area. But don’t lose hope, there’s plenty of time for interviews

Yeah, I have not been contacted for an interview either, and I applied in October–but someone in my school has scheduled an interview with Dartmouth, so its definitely not first come, first serve.

I have just received contact from an interviewer yesterday. (and it was a first come, first serve basis).

are you sure? I called the admissions office, and they said they send all names in a bundle once applications close. It is possible, though, that they screen applications before they send out names to interviewers, and I’ve just been screened as a rejection :(

I’m pretty sure this is not the case, as I would not have gotten an interview if I hadn’t reached out directly to an alumnus myself. Luckily he volunteered to conduct one, and I got in ED despite the interview being 2 days before they announced the ED acceptees. So I think that indicates 2 things: 1, the interviews are not screened, and 2, you don’t necessarily need one to get in. So don’t worry!

Every time I see your name, I think of dead unicorns… :(

Do any of you live in the northeast? I haven’t been contacted either, but usually no interview means there aren’t enough alumni in your area.

Haha, my apologies!

I live in the NorthEast. When I went for my interview (I hinted at one via direct contact with an alumnus, though the alumnus had contacted me several months before for a different reason), my interviewer told me that I should have been offered one, since the Boston area has a ton of alumni. According to him, the regional director had been inundated with work and wasn’t able to distribute every applicant’s name. Sounds a bit odd to me, but in the end it did not really matter.

Mm, I’m from around Boston too–I hope my name didn’t get lost somewhere. So far I’ve only gotten interview requests from two schools, though, so I’ll cross my fingers and hope the system is just taking a while to get going.

I’m from the Boston area too–is there an alumni any of you know of that I can contact? When I called the admissions office, they said they don’t take requests…

Off of the Dartmouth website:

An interview evaluation is added to the application, and is typically considered during the second review of an application, before a final decision is reached.

Because our applicant volume is growing and interviews are conducted by alumni volunteers, we are not able to offer interviews to all applicants.

From what I understand, interviews are given in the second round of admissions, but if you don’t get an interview, it doesn’t mean that you’re not being considered either.
