I haven't decided what I'm going to major in but when I apply for undergrad admissions, on the applications you have to write what are you planning to major in.
Like the University of CA apps online.
you have to tell about a major and an alternate major.
i have no clue on what i want to do. and don't want to decide yet either. But what do i write in the apps then?
i can't leave it blank, it has to be filled.
if i select a major here, do i have to major in that if i get admitted?

Isn't undecided an option?

call the college and see if

a) you have to major in that
b) if you are rejected from both of the schools you select if you are automatically considered for LA

There should be an undecided option within each college. If not, see the procedure for changing a major. Some schools will admit you into a specific major, while others have everyone start as undecided (you choose what your interested in on the app) and then students declare their major at the end of sophomore year.

there aren't undecided options in all the universities. There are undecided options in only a few universities. And that too is Undecided major in Engineering, or Undecided major in arts etc.

^Not true. Lots of universities have Undecided options, especially liberal arts colleges. I think it's more rare to not have the option.

UC has undecided at all of their colleges.
A few have plain "Undecided," but most have "Undecided - Humanities" or "Undecided - Natural Sciences." Those are two huge area. Just pick Undecided in one area (ex humanities) and undecided in another (ex natural sciences). That should give you a considerable amt of leeway. --> that's what I did.

berkeley doesn't have any undecided.
