I haven’t received my financial aid check in a reasonable amount of time. I’m going to ask them to stop payment on it and send out another one. Would it be unreasonable to ask the financial aid office to overnight me a new check, taken out of my funds of course.
What type of financial aid are you talking about? If it’s institutional aid, I can’t imagine that the school would be sending you a check for that; it should be applied directly to your student account.
It was a financial aid refund that was sent to me in a check.
“Refund” - very important word. You should have mentioned that in your first post. Be patient. It will cost money to stop payment on the check, so I doubt the school will be willing to do that, at least right away.
I would imagine most schools have policies where they will wait a certain number of business days to reissue a missing check. It could potentially be another 2 weeks before you receive your check - so be prepared for that (all will depend on school policy). Also, it is likely not the financial aid office that issue the check. This is the responsibility of the Student Accounts/Bursar’s office, so you might want to start there first.
It’s pretty clear what I meant. I wasn’t asking if anything was being applied to any account, because I already know that information. I know that I’m getting a check in the mail, and I know that it was sent out. And I have been patient. It’s been weeks since they sent the check out, and I haven’t gotten it, so it won’t be “right away” that I would be asking them to stop payment and issue another check. I got my last check from the school in four days. They sent it out on a Thursday, and I got it the following Monday.
No, it’s not. There’s a big difference between “financial aid” and “financial aid refund.”
Maybe you should have it direct deposited into an account so this won’t happen again.
Or, go pick it up in person at the bursar’s office.

No, it wasn’t… Don’t be rude, you’re asking others to take the time to help you. Apologize.
I understood what OP meant but don’t understand why he doesn’t just ask the school where the money is. School can say it was mailed to 123 main street on Tuesday or that it was direct deposited on wed. Make sure you are looking for a check. The default method at on daughter’s school is a bank card (like a debit card, but not her student card). You can opt to have a check or direct deposit, but you have to sign up for it.

Because that solution is so obvious, as well as the solution of just going to the bursar’s office to get the check, the OP’s question was ambiguous. Asking them to “overnight” another check is overkill when the student can just go to the office and ask for the check.
No, it wasn’t clear at all. “Haven’t received financial aid check”. From what? Work Study? New student deposit? I had assumed that you were a new student expecting the FA office to send your monies for your first semester. Your first paragraph never mentions a refund. I’m sorry but people on CC don’t read minds, at least, I don’t.
