I don’t understand why people are worried about the size when the whole point of the Honors College is that it is a small liberal arts school within a university!

I’m a UW undergraduate graduate and went to grad school at the University of Michigan and I am currently at Duke University. The UW prepared me quite well for the rigors of these “more prestigious” institutions. Where you go to college is not what matters, it’s what you do there that’s of more concern.

Does going to a smaller school like Haverford help individuals get into graduate school? Maybe?
I know first hand that the UW has made it possible for me to get to where I am today.

It has been my experience that while I was an Undergrad at UW, many of my close friends and classmates went on to be Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Gates Cambridge Scholars and many of my friends are/or went to Ivy League Law/Business/Medical schools.

At the end of the day, it really is a question of where one is most comfortable. There are no guarantee that a college degree will get you a job (particularly in today’s market). Your daughter needs to choose what’s best for her…

We were in the same situation financially when our s (now a junior) started Haverford. We called the finaid office and here is what they did: They made us pay the full amount for the first semester (then $25K) but then we did not have to pay anything at all the second semester. The next year based on our adjusted income we received $44,000 worth of aid. I would call Martha in the finaid office today. She is wonderful.
