I have to take a non credit math class. I took it in spring n dropped with a W. I was planning on transfering tmfall 2014. But once again it looks like i may have to droo with a w again. N wait n additional year to appy. The first time half way through i had to quit because i missed to much. This time its week three n my teacer is insane. We had our first test. I got an F n dont think i can manage to teach myself idk if i should hang in or give up. I only have one more change for course

What math class is it? I say you hang in and study very hard. It would suck to wait another year to apply to transfer if you feel you’re ready now.

If you do end up dropping it, see if your school or any school nearby offers the math class during the winter session.

You have a few options here. You said you don’t think you can manage to teach yourself. Do you think you can do well enough to pass with a ‘C’? If so, see if you can take it Pass/No Pass. If you don’t think you can keep a ‘C’, drop the course. It’s better than failing. Try to take the same course at a different community college or somewhere else in California where they may offer it online?

@ocnative its a non credit algebra i need to pass to take STATS. The material isnt to hard but the teacher is fixated on treating us as “math majors” she has a PhD in math and loves to throw it in our face, shes very intimidating

@smltk1505h the only CCC near me that offers it is mine, and I am scared to take it during such a short session since it would be my 3rd attempt.

@osiq I dont think I could get even get a C without a tutor, luckily we have free ones at school, however I want to wait to get my test back to show them what she is testing us on. Since the test are not based on the book or the math. I actually has an easy time doing the homework, the book is really easy, but her test was too hard. I felt like I was taking a final. However I am going to try very hard to get a C, since sadly I just checked and I cant take this class pass/no pass

I’m sure your W deadline is still weeks away so what I would do is do your best until then, then re-evaluate your decision to drop. Regardless of whether you drop now or a few weeks from now, you’ll still get a W if you drop, so might as well give it a shot!
