Anyone with experience about whether or not having a car is worth it. when do you buy parking passes as an incoming 2014 fall freshman. also, does anyone know which lots are used by students?

is psx the best lot for on campus students or is parking center better

I personally don’t think it is worth it, but some would like having a car I suppose. They have zip cars on campus that are very very cheap to use and you can check out for the day. Don’t have to maintain it, gas it or pay monthly insurance premiums on it. If you have the car, you are the one stuck driving everyone around. And if you aren’t use to LA, it is its own driving scene. If you are local, that may be good to have a car to head home whenever you want. Mine figured out buses, trains and the subway system (or whatever it is called there) to get to Disneyland and had a ball doing it. So I vote zip car unless you are from socal, and even then don’t know that I would want my kid worried about parking and dealing with a car. My third year still doesn’t have a car, but someone in the group does and he is always using other people’s vehicles. My freshman uses zip car on campus.

Any of the parking structures are better than parking center.

However, you probably don’t need a car if you live on campus freshman year, after that though, I would recommend bringing it.

Anybody know how incoming freshman go about buying them?
