I transferred to a University for the first time and its not going well. I do not feel comfortable nor do I feel lie I fit in.
Maybe its not for me or I could be having a break down of having the last few years being terrible. I'm just about to have a breakdown.

I went to a community college and UMUC online then I recently transferred to University of Maryland-Baltimore County. I'm not happy here. I mainly attended because of my brother but he may not even be attending next semester. I know, that no matter where I go at this point, I will feel the same. I'm not in classes I enjoy and because of some last minute issue with health records, I'm unable to register for the Spring until I get my shot records to the school. Most of the classes I wanted to take are filled.
I learn best in lecture and hands on depending on the subject. I'm not best in sitting in classrooms for a long time, and that is why I love hybrid classes.

I admit I have one teacher who is very good. Most of my life I've had poor teachers and it has been nice to have an adequate one.

I may go back to UMUC for Digital Media and get a BA. Is that idiotic?

Any advice would be nice..

First of all- hang in there! Switching schools is a big change and can take a while to get used to.

Second, it sounds like you just need to find your “groove.” It’s good that you’ve found a professor that you like. Is there any chance that they teach other classes that you might enjoy? Hopefully you can get your health record situated so you can enroll in classes you enjoy. Remember, finding your niche can be a little tough, but once you do, college should feel a lot more rewarding.

Good luck!

I agree with NHuffer.

I don’t think you’ve given the new school enough time yet. Hopefully you had other good reasons for picking your new school besides your brother. Please consider visiting your school’s counseling center if you truly feel on the edge of a breakdown. That is what they are there for. Whether your prior school was a better fit for you or not, I cannot say. Possibly the counseling center can help you work through this too.

I’m not sure what kind of “last minute issue with health records” you have experienced. I would be surprised if you are just learning of the requirement to complete a medical form and send immunization records, or that there was a problem with your specific records until now. However, in any case, the immunization records issue should be an easy fix. Have your Dr.'s office send the records to your school. Find out the names of who is responsible for sending it, and who it is supposed to be sent to at your school. Possibly this can be faxed. Follow up to make sure that it has been done and was received and that your school record has been updated. Once that is done, and you are able to register, you still may be able to get some of the classes you wanted via a wait list spot or during the add/drop period at the beginning of the semester. All may not end up to be perfect next semester, but should be better in subsequent ones.
