I am still waiting for USC and UCLA to make a decision. I am interested in film production, journalism, and comparative literature.

I have been accepted to:

University of Hawaii-Manoa- film production and peace studies

University of Arizona- International Journalism

UMASS- Amherst- Journalism and accepted into commonwealth honors college

Arizona State University- Film production

Stony Brook University- Journalism

Hawaii Pacific University- Multimedia-Digital Media/Video Production

Long Island University- Film

I still haven't received all my financial aid packages. UCLA, Hawaii Pacific, and Stony Brook are my mom's choices because they are the cheapest.UHawaii's financial aid package is decent. University of Arizona did not offer much. They wanted my parents to take out a $22,000 loan! U of A is out of the question and I know I don't want to stay in New York. I want to live in warm weather.

I am not sure of Arizona State's film program because it is still new.
I have been talking to alot of Hawaii students. I am in love with the culture, their mindset. However, I want to make the best decision for my career. I have to send a deposit to a school by May 1st. I am prepared to lose $200 if get accepted to USC.

Recently, my mom and i have been talking about getting my degree in film from Uhawaii and taking extra classes at Hawaii Pacific, like photojournalism, then go to USC/UCLA for Graduate school. Hawaii alumni tell me once I take courses at both institutions I will know what is best for me.

My question is: Should my decision be based on financial aid? or what is best for my career?

BTW, my mom is against USC because it's so expensive, but I think that is best for my career. I applied for a scholarship and I have read USC offers a good amount of financial aid.
