Would you rather have memorable high school years or be a complete academic person with no life?

lol. I'm not giving the options of balanced or somewhere inbetween. :)

lol. I'm not giving the options of balanced or somewhere inbetween. :)

What do you mean by having memorable years? Partying and getting drunk every single weekend (though I suppose you wouldn't be able to remember much)? Running every single club there is at school? Winning MVP for three varsity sports? All of those (and many other options) would leave memories of HS in vastly different ways.

The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive... you just need friends who also like to study. :P

My real opinion: anyone who says that your high school years are the "best of your life" is complete crap. Who would really want to peak at 18? I'd go for a bit of both - have fun, but do well so that you have opportunities open to you at the end of the day.

yeah thats crap, don't listen to flaming libs about "fun" stuff (you call getting drunk fun? KYS) , they lead pathetic lives.

I'm in gr. 10 and I'm already regretting the choices I've made. I made the choice to slack off in gr.9 and first semester of gr. 10 and it's caused lots of problems.

This semester I've been working hard, but because of last year there are lots of things i don't understand. :[

I have to say that I'd rather be academic with no life.

To be honest, even when I was slacking I wasn't partying or anything. It's just I was tired of trying so hard to impress my parents. Now that I think about it, I just stayed at home playing video games and being depressed. :S

what are you going to remember in 10 years?
the certificates you won or the friends you made?

complete academic person <--answer you will get in CC
memorable high school years<-- answer you will get in big booty group of myspace

You can do both. I have fond memories of math competitions and abstract algebra.

all i will remember from my high school years are academics anyway. this question all depends on what you consider memorable. if you mean being social and going to parties and drinking heavily, then no, i would rather be a complete academic person, whatever that means.

i'm sorry i can go out, party, have friends, get drunk...and still do well in school. i'm going to kill my self now, thank you for the adivice.

as to the question, i'd much rather have memorable highschool years, in the traditional sence, rather than remembering studing for hours on end.

I'm sure, piccolojunior, that you like to tell yourself that people who go to parties and have friends lead pathetic lives. Unfortunately, that's not true. I do just that and still manage to keep up a 4.0 and varsity soccer, and I would say my life is far from "pathetic." You need to get out more.

Yeah, piccolojunior, I'm extremely tempted to copy my post from the last time you dropped stupidity all over a thread like this (hint: it was the long one where I completely dominated you, that you never responded to).

I love partying, I love drinking, I love having fun. Being drunk can be amazing when you're at a party or chilling with friends. I'm also able to sit down and get academic stuff done when I need to. Am I a "flaming lib"? What the ***** does that even mean?

Is my life pathetic? At least my summer isn't going to be "[doing] AoPS, Halliday, Atkins, and Campbell's until I can only see numbers and diagrams." That would be you (your own words), my pathetic friend. Try to spend enough time outside that you don't get sunburned by your light bulb.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! SO many noobs so little time. 1of42, you never pwned me because I DID respond to you. You definitely need to get off my hhram and kys.

I find it funny how people tell me to get out more just because my main sources of fun are going to professional sporting events (Yankees, Nets games), watching movies, and going to the gym to play basketball/lift weights. I have a life, I just make sure to balance everything out while staying away from "liberal behavior." There are 168 hours each week...figure 60 for sleeping, 50 for science research, another 30 for the "hardcore studying" and about 30 hours for doing whatever the hell I think is "social and fun" (see first sentence). Is that so hard to digest? I'm just saying things such as "pathetic" to incite you party-lovers because I'm attacking something you hold so precious to you. It's rather sad because it's so predictable, but hey the responses I get are funny as hell (last two were great LMFAO)

Surely pwning you three nubs makes me a loser ROFLMAO

Edit: Quality over quantity when it comes to studying for me. Don't hate.

How about a response? Or would you rather just shrug it off with some kind of flippant remark about "noobs" (who even calls other people that, seriously)? Could it be because you don't have a legitimate response? Thought so.

Wow. Anyways I prefer a balance, or at least an attempt at a balance.

what are " 'liberal behavior' " ?

and how do participating in such lead to "pathetic lives"?

wow, you must be dumb as rocks. The whole "liberal" joke is just something made at school that I say here once in a while because some of my schoolmates frequent this site. It doesn't actually lead to pathetic lives, if you read my post I was just saying it to see how you would react to me "condemning" your lifestyle. Obviously you responded just as I predicted.

Yeah. I would react as anyone else would react - thinking you're a total idiot. It's nice to know that you're at least intelligent enough to predict something as blatantly obvious as that - the only question is, why did you post anyways? It only makes 90% of the people here think you're an idiot.

Don't see how I'm dumb for that. I don't go to your school, and proportionally almost no one else does either. I don't know you, and so when you post something like that (especially given your other posts) you come across not a joking, but as a really pompous, sheltered hermit, who feels left out of the social scene and so pointlessly condemns it.

Yeah that was my failed attempt to liven things up around here LOL. Now we can let my obscure jokes die their peaceful deaths.

Personally I have a lot of fun just hanging out with my friends without the need to drink, but if your idea of fun is going to a party where everyone is drunk as hell, whatever, go for it.
