I’m busy writing supplements to Georgtown, Amherst, George Washington, Cornell, and Duke but I’m struggling to get into the right mindset. I know my essays have to be stellar cause all of these schools have competitive admissions but now I feel like it’s too much on my plate. Anyone have any advice on how to refocus and buckle down on these supplements. I’m trying to be done by Christmas but feeling like that might not be realistic. So, now I’m thinking that this is going to take over my winter break. There goes relaxing and not thinking about college for the next two weeks.
I’m in the same situation - sorry you’re going through it as well Personally, it helps me to put on some music when I write essays because it makes it more fun. Just set aside a time block and jot down your ideas and try to consolidate them.
Good luck! It’s almost over
SAME. I keep stressing over every sentence in my essay I keep rewriting my essays and editing them. And on top of that I’ve decided to apply to more colleges to maximize my financial aid (and hopefully a couple more acceptances). I’m working on my Duke, Cornell, and others essays over the break too. We’re on the same boat! :))
It is better if you just randomly start typing whatever comes to mind to get the mind and creativity juices flowing (no matter how random it is). Then you’ll have your eureka moment sooner or later. Think about the essays during downtime in class or on a car ride or commercial break, and put it in the back of your mind. The more you think about it, the more your mind creates more ideas to answer it, the more it percolates in your mind (this has helped me a ton!).
PS: It’s funny how you’re applying to the last three schools because a buddy of mine said those schools in that order when he said he was going to apply to them over the break. =))
