Going into the college process, I based a lot of my applications on school prestige. Lucky me, I was able to narrow it down to three superb institutions-- Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and Emory.

Being from Georgia, I have long yearned for a definite winter. While this may sound wholly lame, I had always pictured me in a northern college, freezing my butt off in the cold. And loving it nevertheless.

I want to study journalism, and NU has one of the best journalism schools in the country--which I (very happily) was admitted to. I want a city with a great vibe and a fantastic music scene. I don't drink, smoke, etc., and I don't plan on starting any of those. I want a campus where I won't feel ostracized because I am not part of the Greek scene.

I think all three options are great, but I'm worried VU is too much of a "Greek" school. I love Southern hospitality, but is it enough to outweigh the benefits of a superb journalism school or my hometown?

I have many friends at Vandy who absolutely adore it, but I would really love some outside perspective.

Please help?

Thank you!
