I'm a senior in high school, and with just a couple months left before it's time to pick a college, I'm starting to worry about what I'm doing next. I'm really interested in studying International Relations with a foreign language. I know finding a career may be hard, and because of that I'm looking to go to a good school that offers this. I live in Missouri, and it seems like my only financially possible options now are a couple state colleges. I'm worried that my degree will be overlooked if I don't go somewhere more specialized in this area of study. Can you all give me some advice? Would transferring after a year or two be possible and could I get scholarship from that? Will my college choice matter? I have an almost perfect gpa, but my ACT isn't as high.

Applications are over and done with, right? Transfer doen’t usually get the kind of aid freshmen get so that may or may not be feasible. It would have been better to try for freshman year and bring up ACT or try SAT but too late for that now, right? All you can do is try to be a standout in your studies and department and take advantage of a reputable study abroad program or semester exchange with a D.C. college perhaps. Maybe secure internships that will help you when it comes time to job hunt. When you get into your department, you might create relationships with professors who might know about opportunities for a student who impresses them.
