Having Trouble with my AP Stats Class... What Do I Do?

The grading policy for my AP Stats class is 75% tests/quizzes and projects, 15% HW, and 10% class participation.

So far, my teacher has only graded three of the five quizzes I have taken so far. The first quiz was on class policies and I forgot to study and got 60% and didn't study for the second and got 67.4% (if he hadn't given a curve i would have gotten 70!!). And on the third, I got a 93%.

He is a very slow grader and has yet to grade two quizzes, a project, and two homework assignments that were handed in.

On my progress report I got a C+ and I'm really worried I won't be able to bring this up to at least a B+ before mid-year reports are sent out to colleges in January (I'm a senior by the way). What do I do?! I'd rather stay in the class but I've never gotten lower than a B in a class... I'm worried that with such a high weight on tests and quizzes and those two really bad quiz grades, I won't be able to bring it back up. :(

I took the class last year. I had a slow start because I didn’t study very much, coming in to the class thinking that it is an “easy AP”. But I learned quickly that stats just takes good note-taking and consistent study habits. The class is full of vocab and little formulas here and there that you have to be familiar with in order to perform on tests. I know it may seem overwhelming, but if you make an effort to get up to pace and maybe stay after class a couple days, everything will start making sense. Hope this helps!

Thank you. That makes me feel better because that’s the exact situation I’m in.

I ended the first quarter with a solid B (85.5) without some extra credit points included. (This is good news considering I was getting a C+ a few weeks ago).
I’m glad I didn’t drop the course.

That’s awesome man! Keep it up
