I transfered from a small school to a very large university this fall and thought I would love it. The school has great sports, has greek life/many clubs. However, I am not living in the dorms, I live in a suite in an appartment style housing about 2 block off campus so it's very hard to meet people. In addition, everybody seems to have their own click of friends by now from freshman year and does not wish to welcome new students to their group. I was tihnking about joining a fraternity to keep me busy/meet people/ have something to do. Am I overreacting? Will it take time to adjust and meet people even if it will be during the 4th or 5th week of school?

That’s one of the reasons transferring from sucks, especially in sophomore or junior year. I don’t know what to tell you. Just be open and friendly. Join the clubs, volunteer with people; go ahead and join the frat; talk to people in your classes. If you’re not hideous looking or a sociopath you’ll get some friends eventually.
