Hi, I'm from the mainland but I'm originally from Hawaii and I loved it there when I went back to visit. I loved the culture, the people, the weather, etc... But the cost of living is crazy, but I think I could live with the "paradise tax". One of my big concerns is being so far away from home and having to fly home every time. I'd probably only be able to only come home for Christmas and for the summer.

I know neither of these places have great reputations, but I think I could get a good education at either, probably a better one a UH.
I've heard UH does not give any merit aid to OOS kids and someone else told me they gave a little, so I'm not sure. If I had to pay full freight, I wouldn't go.
I think CUH will give me significant aid, but I'm a little afraid of the academic reputation/quality of the school. The ACT range is like 17-23 and the accept >90% of the applicants.

I'm white and at each school, white people only make up a quarter of the student body. Thats not really a positive or a negative, but I do think it would be an interesting experience.

Another thing is that UH kind of has a reputation of being a commuter school. I'm not sure if I want this. I kind of want your traditional college experience, and I'm not sure if either school could give this to me.

I'm interested in majoring in political science and economics/business, so I think out of these two, I think UH would be better.

Any other comments or suggestions? I'd kind of like to go to one of these schools for undergrad and not grad school, unless it is for my PhD, but I think I may go into law or get my MBA.

Thanks
