HBU, TCU, ACU, or Baylor?

I'm planning on going to a christian school in Texas but I have yet to visit any of the campuses so I have no idea which of these schools I really want to go to... What do you think: Houston Baptist University, Texas Christian University, Abilene Christian University, or Baylor University?

How important is the actual “christianity” part? Because, if it is, that’s not a very good list.

Texas Christian does not focus on the Christian aspect at all. The only religious requirement they have at all is one class and any religion can be studied. ACU and Baylor both require chapel and I don’t know anything about HBU, sorry.

i agree with phear me. I know Baylor makes you take chapel but overall the students at the schools aren’t the greatest representation of “Christians”. If you really want to go to a Christian school you’re better off going to a smaller bible college. But if you’re just looking for advice on which to go to I would put TCU or Baylor near the top, even though baylor is located in boring Waco.

I’ve looked at all the schools except for HBU (even though i live in Houston). I agree on the fact that TCU doesn’t focus directly on Christian values, but they do give students many opportunites to express their religious values if they wish too…i don’t know if you want somewhere that requires you to go to chapel. It really depends on what you want… ACU offers a very simple chapel service that most people can relate and enjoy… Baylor has a very strong focus on Baptist values…and TCU gives the opportunity to have more of a freedom of expression… I don’t know if this is helpful but it may be bias because im attending TCU in the fall

I go to TCU and it’s as religious or non-religious as you want it to be. If you don’t want anything to do with religion, you only have to take one general religion class. But if you’re the Christian type, there are multiple things every day to be involved in.

I hear ACU is strict and that you’re not allowed to have girls in your room. Lame.

Baylor is cool except for the fact that Waco is the most boring town on the planet.

Go visit the campuses. TCU and Baylor are only about 1.5 hours away from each other so you could practically visit them both in a day. Both have gorgeous campuses (former Waco and FW resident). Academics and student bodies are similar, but there is a different “feel” on each. I know less about ACU and HBU, but you go visit and you will be able to tell which is more your style.
