about the prestigiousness related to HCSSiM. I think not only that HCSSiM is a better program but also much more fun. I looked at stuff from ROSS and it was all number theory. I already took a college course on number theory and so I find it pointless to spend 3 grand when you basically can learn it out of a book. HCSSiM promises to be fun and you learn much more varied topics however I don’t know if they have a widespread “type” of people at each im afraid of not quite fitting in

How DO you hear back from HCSSiM…? email? mail? I forget when I sent mine in but I haven’t heard anything.

If you get accepted its an email, however im slightly confused as I got it weeks ago and then a letter came but I’m not sure how to RSVP I even emailed them but nothing yet. Unless you did the IT perfectly they’ll ask you to try 1 or 2 problems again

If you are afraid of not fitting in, then you won’t --it is an odd group of kids at HCSSiM, and the profs/teachers are even weirder. They celebrate yellow pig day and have some big deal over it, and do a lot of rubic cube. You are better off with PROMYS or one of the other math programs for learning math and having fun.

@BernieMadoff: How long did it take you to get your e-mail acceptance after sending the IT?

How about Canada/USA Mathcamp?
