how do you get them? I remember you guys said we can get HD channels... so right now we have a HDTV that supports HDMI and component and everything else... so which cable do we need?

if your tv supports QAM then you just need a regular coax cable. i dont know what channels are the HD channels though. or you can get an HDTV antenna to get free “over the air” HDTV, but that is a hassle if your tv doesnt have two separate inputs for antenna and cable.

101-1-something is HD

but how do I get the hd signal tho, I am connect through coaxial cable right now and I don’t get anything past 100

you need an HD tuner box or HD built-in to your TV.

I think its built in, its one of those vizio hdtvs… I just don’t know how to get coaxial into component or hdmi

On how to get “over the air” HDTV channels:

Your Vizio should have the tuner in the system, since I assume the model was manufactured around this past year. All you need is a standard antannae (no HDTV antannae needed, but better if available). The TV menu should have an option to choose between digital, analog, and air [I believe]. Choose over the air, the TV should start scan, and you get the HD channels along with the standard digitial. HD channels are labeled as 4-1, 7-2, etc.

Around LA, you should get about 40-50 working over the air HD channels.

Plug in the cable from the wall into the coax and scan… you should pick up the signals.
