He didn't cheat. What should he do?!

Hey guys. Okay so my best friend got accused of cheating today. So this is exactly what happened. He walked into our APUSH class and he saw someone standing at this desk so he went over there to see what the other guy was looking at. He saw a test there, but he thought it was like an old test. He didn't think there was anything significant about it so he sat down. Then, a couple of people started crowding the desk so he went there again to see if this test was something important that he should know of. Everyone left and he was left there and the teacher walked up to him and asked him why he was looking at the key. He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. He didn't even know it was the test we were taking that day. It all happened so fast. Now the teacher thinks he's a cheater, even though he did nothing wrong. Any advice for what he should do? Thank you so much!

Get your friend to talk to the teacher after school.

okk but what should he say?

Explain everything. If he didn’t cheat, he can’t ‘trip up’ in his story, right?

Maybe you- sorry, your “friend” should explain everything to your teacher. Tell “your friend” to be completely honest and sincere.

he should send Edible Arrangements to the teacher…those always work, or a basket of mini muffins… http://www.ediblearrangements.com

He didn’t get a 0 or anything, so, who cares?

If the teacher thinks he cheated, that’s gonna change the teacher’s opinion of him…

OP, did he talk to the teacher? What happened?

He should tell the principal that the teacher left the answer key for that day’s test sitting on her desk and left the room, and when he went to see what everyone was looking at, she walked in and accused him of cheating. If her boneheaded fail is going to create problems for him, then tell her boss and let her try to explain her way out of it.

He should explain.
