Can anyone recommend some good headphones for use around the dorm? maybe for running too...

I love these and bought two pairs. I don’t/can’t use earbuds and these have pretty good sound quality without a lot of bulk. They are also flat to the ear instead of rounded, which is great if you are resting your head against something (think airplanes).

I like Bose noise canceling headphones… especially good for plane rides to/from school (if you go to school far from home like I do)

They’re pricey, so you have to know you’ll use them for a while/aren’t the type of person who would lose them easily

I have skull candy earbuds that I like a lot. I just ordered these: [Skullcrushers CMYK](Skullcandy's Crusher Evo Wireless Headphone)

I heard these were great.

Overpriced.

Overpriced and ugly. Where did you hear they were great? OP, get a set of Sennheiser HD 201s, they are easy on the budget and high quality.

Thanks for the help guys

@applicannot what headphones are you talking about?

also, any suggestions for earbud type headphones?

Dooon’t get Turtle Beach X11’s. They’re USB-powered and they have a very loud amp hiss that gets louder when you turn the volume up! The cord must be 20ft long, too. Worst headset I’ve ever bought… Also, people on Xbox Live complain that there is a lot of background noise, and the talk icon never goes away, even when I have it on mute…

I have some Sony Professional MDR headphones for studying, listening to music in my room, watching movies.
For running I just use whatever earbuds I can get my hands on. Although the ones that loop around your ears with that jelly stuff (I got a pair once for $10) were great.

Skull Candy earbuds are pretty good. I bought my first pair for $10 and then lost them. My current pair cost me $20, same thing just not on sale. They stay in well during workouts and deliver really good sound quality. I like the amount of bass they pick up compared to my laptop speakers. They block out outside noise very well too. They get my vote.

Skull candy = overrated.

Not to be confrontational at all Splonk, but what is your brand/model of choice?

Guys, this is not even a question.

[HeadRoom: Stereo Headphones, Amps & DACs, Wireless, Noise Canceling, Ear Canal, Earbud, Audio Cables & Accessories](http://www.headphone.com/)

Just pick your price point and sway to get something 4 1/2 or 5, which for any reasonable price point is do-able. Just stay away from ones that require an amp if you plan to use it for an ipod/mp3 player.

personally I have Koss KSC 75s which sound amazing for the price, $20. They crush ANYTHING $50 or under, easy.

I have had an excellent experience with Bang and Olufsen Earphones. They sound incredibly accurate, are beautifully designed, exhibit low hissing noises, and are really ergonomic. Oh, and customer service is top notch.

i think he wants to run with headphones…
AHAHAHAHA no.
headroom overprices so much. look elsewhere.

Currently, the best value in in-ear headphones which can be easily bought at the $20 price range are the MEElectronics M6 and M9. No one really makes decent earbuds, if you want those, at sub $30 but yuin pk3 is the cheapest i can think of at $40
but i think you dont want to pay that much as youre a college kid

I had no idea headphones were such a big deal. I don’t even know what brand mine are. I bought them from target for like four dollars because they looked to be the only ones small enough for my ears and am perfectly happy with them.

^^Never said use Headroom for buying, but for looking at how a model is rated, yes.

I currently have Sony “Extra Bass Over-the-Ear Headphones.” My only complaint about them is they suck at keeping noise in.

As for earbuds a cheap pair from Walmart works for me.

For listening to music around the house and on planes, I have a pair of Bose QC15 noise cancelling headphones that were expensive, but sound great. For running, I have the V-Moda Vibe II earbuds. They’re not too expensive, and they sound excellent.

For a dorm, make sure they’re not open back headphones. Or if you really want the great soundstage that open back provides, buy a cheap pair of earbuds for when your roommate is asleep. Open back = LOTS of sound leakage, and to someone sitting near you it may seem like you’re blasting your music even if you’re playing it as a reasonable level.

I don’t like in-ear canal headphones at all. I can never seem to get them to stay in for crap. But they sound better than the average earbuds I’ll have to admit. I’ve learned that sennheisers “twist-to-fit” system is absolutely amazing. You can run with these and they NEVER come out. And its sennheiser so you get solid quality sound for an earbud that is not in your ear-canal. They have like 5 or 6 different pairs with that “twist-to-fit” technology. Find one you like.
