So I'm back with yet another issue to seek help with. I was just wondering what would be possible to bring instead of a professional headshot simply cause I am really supporting myself financially for the whole application process and can't afford to pay the 200+ for the headshots.

As always any help is appreciated and thank you all so much!

It should be easy to have a friend take your headshot. You have to pay for the reproduction but even a basic digital camera has a portrait setting-- get a good clear flattering picture in natural light and you’ll be fine.

For college auditions, a basic headshot should suffice. If you have someone take a picture of you, make sure the lighting is good and the background is not distracting. To print the picture, most Kinko’s and Costcos have an1 HP Photosmart Station, and you can crop, edit, and add text on those. The printing quality is pretty high as well. Colleges just want something to remind them of who you are!

This is where I got mine printed. Their pricing is good and there is a fast turn around. My head shots look nice/professional. I just uploaded my jpeg, they put my name on, printed my order, and mailed them to me. You can get your resume printed on the back for an additional fee if you want, but I didn’t do this to keep the cost down.

Just make sure your picture is from your shoulders to the top of your head, no need for a full body, they want to see you face. Also, try to show some of your personality in your face. If you want some ideas of what a professional headshot might look like go on the Reproductions website. Don’t stress though, perfection isn’t required for the college audition headshot!
