Do you know any UChicago students who have gotten into top-tier med schools, i.e Harvard, Hopkins, Penn, etc.? Could you give me some examples?

I don’t know the statistics, but referring to the post above me: Chicago is not a “bad” school for pre-meds as you seem to think. I know many pre-meds from UChicago who have gone to the top-of-the-top medical schools; it’s not a rare occurrence. Your question makes it seem as if UChicago pre-meds struggle to succeed in medical school admissions. Chicago isn’t the best for pre-meds and it has a reputation of being rigorous, but it’s certainly still doing better than almost every other school in the country save for a dozen or so Chicago is comparable with. A student from UChicago getting into a top medical school isn’t something the university will have a gala for; students get into top medical schools all the time.

Try not to think of your undergrad experience as merely a “step” to get past on your way to medical school. Your undergraduate experience is a formative experience. Wherever you go, your experience and success will be what you make out of it.

Also, UCIHP is probably super busy this time of year so waiting for an response for them before the May 1 deadline probably isn’t the best idea.

Can you give me some examples of the med schools people have gotten into and what type of GPA they have?
don’t get me wrong I love UChicago and I’m not downsizing it by any means but I’m trying to choose between two colleges right now and it’s hard to make a decision.

Thanks for the info though it helps a TON.

I’ll send you a PM based on my personal relations.

Okay thank you! :)

sa029, can you please pm me the same thing? I am struggling with the same issue!

SA0209,

We are all interested in the answer. Could you send me a PM too.

Thanks!

Sa0209, PLEASE PM ME TOOOOOOO!!!

Sa029 and Poplicola, just wanted to say thank you for your input! I can’t PM back because I’ve made less than 15 posts or something like that(what a strange CC rule).
Also, it seems that people who go to the top tier medical schools have REALLY high GPAs, but that shouldn’t be surprising, I guess!
