Health-related withdrawals on transcript - any chance to explain?

I’m coming up to the end of my run at my local community college and am hoping to apply to some 4-years in November. Happily, I’ve managed to hang on to a 4.0 and will have several letters of recommendation. However, there are 6 withdrawals on my transcript - one quarter of three classes, the next quarter of two, and one the following quarter.

This happened because I had a bad reaction to a medication and developed a severe migraine condition. This happened near the beginning of the quarter with three classes. The quarter following, I thought they were mostly under control, but that proved incorrect and I was made to withdraw completely from another quarter. The condition seemed extremely volatile and unpredictable - I’d go a few weeks without any, then suffer crippling migraines for another couple of weeks. After getting treatment at the UCSF headache center, I was finally able to finish one class and now they are very much under control (I haven’t had a bad migraine in several months) and I’ve finished all classes since.

I know that while W’s don’t affect GPA, they do give pause to universities considering your ability to fully complete courses. Is the situation one that they will consider? Is there any way I can explain to the universities what happened? Or should I not worry about the W’s anyway?

Thanks!

Talk with your transfer GC how best to explain this.
