I’m a very healthy eater, probably explains why I’m majoring in nutrition. I was wondering what are some meals, or restaurants on campus that offer healthy alternatives through the use of meal credits. also I’m a big snacker, I am constantly snacking on carrots, apples etc, not so much of a 3 big meal eater. Would it be possible to pick up some cereal milk and fruit with my plus dollars at the campus market for my dorm room? Also are there any workout/fitness areas near the dorms? Any tips to help me steer clear of the freshman 15 would be great! Thanks!

I’m not quite sure of the food, but there is a large rec center not too far from the dorms. I took a tour with some friends, and it is quite nice…the main floor is full of weights (free and fixed), exercise equipment, etc. There are rooms for exercise classes; when I went, there was some sort of martial arts course with sticks. There was also a pickup basketball game, as well as a pool in use. Also, it is under construction, and additions may be made by the time we get there.

True–under some reconsruction. When we visited last week, an RA from Sierra Madre said they’re remodeling the rec center right now, but part of it’s still open. We were in the lobby of Sierra Madre and I noticed a piece of exercise equipment up on the second floor. She said they’ve brought some in temporarily while they’re working on the rec center.

Since my son isnt on the meal plan anymore, dont want to give you incorrect information. So you might read CPs Dining Plan FAQs and each restaurants nutritional info or menu. That will give you some idea of what to expect. All of the restaurants will be open for Open House, so thats a good time to browse the eateries. Only a few restaurants will be open during the summer and WOW week. Once fall classes start up, all of the campus restaurants will be open, so you can figure out what you can do with your meal plan money. Sometimes restaurants change or their menus change over the summer, so what youre now reading online may change a little but youll get accurate details at WOW week.

19 Metro is where my son likes to eat because it has a wide variety of food, some meals change daily, and more healthful food is available there. Lucys smoothies are another favorite. Salad bars are available at some eateries. Good luck and hope you find something you like.
