has anyone still been hearing back from the waitlist? whether they got in or not? i still havnt heard back. :-/

Ditto...neither a yea nor nay.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but i have a friend who got waitlisted and she heard she was accepted already, but you never know, call them! i heard that really does help/prioritze you!

Schools take students off the wait list if the matriculation rate was less than they previously predicted, like Tufts was this year. Tufts has already gone through the first round of accepting students off the wait list for the year. If they haven't filled up the Class of 2010, they will have a second round of wait list acceptances.

But Tufts has not shut the door on may wait-list-ees yet, so there is still hope. Good luck!

Didn't Tufts take no students off the waitlist last year? & also, where did you find the matriculation information for 2010? (Just curious)

They over-enrolled last year because the yield rate was higher than originally predicted, so they upped their predicted matriculation rate this year and became more selective in their admissions proccess. However, the yield dropped this year which allowed Tufts to accept many students off the wait list.

I don't know the exact matriculation rate for Tufts, but many other schools have already posted theirs in news articles. You could try googleing it.

thank you. i called and didnt get off the waitlist. :( totally sucks but whatever.

well, the waitlist is really tricky.

Say Tufts accepts 100 people for a graduating class. 50 matriculate.

Okay, so they still need to fill 50 spots. They let in 50 kids from the waitlist. 30 accept.

At this point, it's like May 15th.

Except...hey wait, all the OTHER waitlists are suddenly notifying their students, too. Some of which may have already matriculated at Tufts. So of those original 50 that matriculated at Tufts, 10 are suddenly like, "Sorry Tufts, but Duke let me in! Bye!"

So now there are 70 people in the class. Tufts lets in 30 more kids. 10 accept a spot. But now, 5 more of the kids that were already matriculating at Tufts got into Columbia.

And it goes on.

So my friend just got in like, before yesterday. And for some reason decided that since she had already sent in all the paperwork to Barnard, it would be inconvenient to do the same for Tufts. If they had told her a few weeks earlier, she said, before she did all the housing...

That's stupid. It's just the way the waitlist works. It'll be fluctuating. And well, I guess it's good news for all you waitlistees, because it looks like another spot is open :)
