Hi, I just found this website and its been really helpful. I have applied to Pitt and my application is complete. For those of you who have applied already, how long did it take to hear back and was it by mail or my.pitt.edu? Thank you in advance!

the decision is exclusively through the mail. After I sent in my essay, I heard about 9 days later.

Mines been completed for 15 days. I’m hoping any day this week to hear my decision.

still waiting to hear after over 4 weeks…

Did you send in essays?

yes, I sent an essay as well as 2 teacher recs and a guidance counselor rec (my school automatically sends these with the transcript)

My D sent in an essay and activities resume, in addition to the required items. Her friend who sent in just the required items was already accepted, so I don’t think the lack of these items would explain anything.

Based on the 2015 Acceptance thread, Pitt appears to have sent a lot of acceptances out in early to mid October. It appears to have slowed down. I do know October 15 was the deadline to have completed apps and documents in to have the application fee waive. This was a part of Ready Set Pitt.

Also, the majority of the acceptances posted here are for the School of Arts and Science, a few nursing, engineering, and medical. My son applied to the business school, which has a much smaller number of available spaces. So far, I’ve only seen 1 acceptance posted here. I called last to get my son’s my Pitt logo information and was told he should hear from the committee in a couple of weeks, which is what most have been told.

Hopefully, we all will have good news very soon!

My son just heard last night that he got into the Business School. What would be the notoriety of that; do they have a good reputation?

We attended the June 26 presentation for students interested in the business school and my son was excited about the relationship that Pitt has with the four major accounting firms located in Pittsburgh. The professors talked about preparing students to be competitive, to think, and engage them. There was also a lot of discussion about internships, studying abroad, and getting the students involved. We’ve attended UPenn’s Wharton School of Business, UVa’s McIntire School of Commerce’s presentations and Pitt’s felt more sincere, practical, and the campus atmosphere felt more welcoming.

When did you son submit his complete application?

Just received the large envelope marked “Congratulations!”…
I was accepted to Arts&Sciences …soooo nice to have an acceptance in hand :)

Hopefully more will hear soon. For those of you waiting to hear, my application was marked complete on my.pitt on Oct 24. I did submit an essay and 1 teacher recommendation, but no resume.

No metion of any scholarship money in the letter. I am oos so we will see what happens with my other apps before I make a decision. Pitt seems great and Pittsburgh seems like an awesome place to go to school…although a bit cold :)

Congrats to all those who have been admitted so far and good luck to the rest! If you feel like sharing your stats and decision/scholarship information, don’t forget to post your information on the 2015 official results thread. Such information may prove useful for future and even current applicants.

He submitted 2 weeks ago…

I received my letter about 2 weeks after I sent in my application - although I don’t think my guidance counselor sent in my transcript until last week, so about 1 week total from application to decision.

^Sounds like they got your transcript into the system quickly, my D2 sent her transcript on Oct 19 but Pitt Portal still doesn’t show it as received yet.

My application was complete in mid-August. Still nothing.

Sent in my app on Oct 22nd
I started it back in Aug though and used the code for the fee waiver…
it still worked for when I sent it in, even though it was past Oct 15th

Transcript just showed up as received on Pitt portal on Wednesday
I’m hoping I’ll get something next week!
Oh and I applied for the school of nursing

applied to pitt over the summer. just heard back today and they have asked for my mid year grades. these grades don’t come out until february so this feels like a death sentence considering pitt is rolling. Any suggestions on what to do to get accepted? Pitt is my number one choice and I want to do as much as i can to get accepted.

Did you get first quarter grades? If they were really good, send those. There are some reports on CC Pitt threads where people did that and got accepted.

Otherwise, make sure your semester grades get sent ASAP (overnight if possible) the first day they’re available.

My son’s deadline for the fee waiver was October 11th and his app is showing up as complete and being evaluated. His first quarter is almost over, I think he might send in those grades, they’re good ones.
