Hearing their decision (rd)

Waitlisted, but with my GPA in the state that it is from my sophomore year, I’m happy and I’ll be accepting my place on the list.

I don’t know what’s wrong with my application. I got waitlisted by Colby and rejected by Union, Middlebury, UChicago, MIT and Yale-NUS:( This is so discouraging!:frowning: The only ones left are Trinity and Ivies.

Hopingforbetter - I was rejected by UChicago as well. It’s not you, it’s the selectivity of the schools. :c

Hopingforbetter - what Serentic said. All those schools are incredibly competitive - it’s not you at all. I’m really sorry you’re feeling so discouraged :-(

I still can’t look - arghhh!

Accepted with two merit scholarships that add up to almost $30,000 and got into the Union Scholars Program! I’m very excited! Union is definitely one of my top LAC and in my top 5!

Congratulations, jjul15!

I still haven’t looked at my son’s portal - this is torture. BUT he just received a big envelope in the mail from Union admissions. Is that a good sign???

BTMell… I’d say he got in… CONGRATS. Now you just need to wonder what kind of aid he got.

This is KILLING me - but a promise is a promise. I’ll stop whining now ha ha

Thanks! We loved Union when we visited and it felt like a great fit.

Problems:
My sophomore year and the first half of my senior year I was diagnosed with cancer. Luckily, neither time required chemo. My senior year, a good friend of mine also died of cancer. My freshman year, my grandfather died, and my grandmother died my junior year. I’m adopted, and several weeks ago I discovered and contacted my biological brother. My parents didn’t take well to it and it’s created a sad rift between us. We didn’t get along to begin with, since they also have a biological child that they tend to favor.

I happily accepted my position on the waitlist and updated Union with the goings-on in my life this morning. c:

My son was accepted! He was offered truly amazing financial aid - we’re thrilled that Union was so generous. He’ll be majoring in biology/premed.

My son’s GPA is a 3.75 unweighted with several honors classes. Our school doesn’t have AP. He’s near-fluent in Spanish and has many ECs including a third degree black belt in taekwondo, camp counsellor, golf team (captain of JV junior year), baseball team, he works part time at the fitness center in our local college. My son is deaf - he was born with a profound hearing loss but hears and speaks thanks to bilateral cochlear implants. We had an audiologist tell us when he was first diagnosed that “maybe he’ll be able to speak to you”. I truly would love for her to see him now.

We’re thrilled! And very, very grateful.

BTMell - Congrats! I’m so happy for you and your son. (:

thanks, Serentic - and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. You sound like a wonderful young man.

Congratulations to you and your son BTMell. Serentic- good luck to you. Wishing you much luck in your efforts in being accepted. Based upon your accomplishments and your ability to overcome personal challenges, you will be successful anywhere you attend.

Thank you, guys. I’m waiting to hear back from Fordham, Brown, NYU and Occidental now, so we’ll see where I end up. Union really is tied for first, though, so I’d do anything to get in.

rejected…

notes - well I’m international and needed a ton of aid…on top of tht i told them that I wanna do med…which as an international is as everyone knows hard…so yea…it was kinnda expected…yet disappointment is something I cant help but feel…

congratz to those who got accepted :D

edit :- Also I didn’t submit the sat scores and for international students its not required but ‘recommended’…so maybe that too played a part…

Wait listed :(

I kinda expected it as I am an international asking for aid!

I was accepted, but I haven’t received my financial aid offer yet. I really love Union but as an international student who needs aid I still have to wait.

Im really happy I got in but i only got a 6600 scholarship and no other financial aid besides a loan. Its really a shame bc theres no way I can afford that. My parents want me to pay for my college education also and I feel like that was not factored in. On a different note, congrats to everyone that got in; its an awesome school. I only wish I could attend.
