Hearing...

Ok, I don't know if any of you are experiencing this...but don't you just wish you were applying to a school where you would know by Dec. 15? This is the only part of the process that bothers me, especially when all your friends are finding out about their first choice schools, oh well, what are ya gonna do?

Anyway, my package was finished (on the CIS) in mid-October (everything else but math teacher eval. was in in Sept.) When can I expect to hear something? All I have really heard is a letter from the Senior Medical Officer saying, that if I'm found qualified my 20/20 R 20/25L eyesight will be waived, this was in response to a letter I sent him. But, that doesn't really say anything, I don't think...

Anyone who's gone through/going through have a rough idea of when I might hear? Or is April looking about right?

Thanks!

Have you received a letter from the Admissions Board stating that you have been found fully qualified? This is most likely you next step in the process. You need to first be found fully qualified, then you need to receive a nomination. After getting both of those parts of the "ticket", the waiting then begins to hear about an appointment. Maybe you should contact your BGO about your status as to being fully qualified or not.

Hey. I had everything at the beginning of Nov and I just got a qualified letter today. So you should probably get something really soon. They meet every thrus. and are meeting tomarrow to make up for lost time during the holiday break. Good Luck!

I am also led to believe your stats were better.

then again, maybe they just have fun testing my patience

This process is a really long haul for most candidates. Most do not hear until March or April.

Do not let your hopes consume your life, or your senior year will slip away.
Good Luck to all.

Our son had his USNA file complete by end of August and received his qualified letter in mid-October. Now that the flow of applications is increasing, the turnaround time is probably even slower.

Although it's reassuring to get the qualified letter, you should be able to determine if you're qualified by comparing your own information to the Class of 2008 profile.

Good luck. I won't tell you to be patient since, if you're like our son, it's like telling him to be careful.

Wow today has been bad... deferred from Georgetown, and made an "alternate" at the Coast Guard Academy.....

Harvard - Accepted! :D

congrats navgirl!

Way to go Navgirl! Enjoy your decision!!! :)

Navgirl: Kudos on your Harvard acceptance.

You certainly have some very special "gift boxes" under your tree waiting to be opened. Enjoy your holidays. Make sure you give those special people in your life some extra hugs.

AH! congrats on getting into harvard! I'm very proud of you!

Georgetown: Accepted! Woot!!

Scitsailor, don't stress about it. I'm sure you'll get in under Regular Decision.

Davy, I've had my stuff in since the 1st of July, and I've been stressing since then. Right now, though, I'm not so sure I still want to go. CVW was fun, but I'm not so sure I'm convinced. There's so much more I can do at a regular college that I couldn't do at USNA (I love you guys, please don't shoot me down for saying that).

But I still haven't decided (lol, not that there's much to decide. I haven't gotten in).

Here's a high 5 to ya marines4me! I wouldn't dare shoot you down. ;) I will more than likely be going the civilian route myself, but still have some time to decide.

Scitsailor, I agree with marines4me. You'll probably get into GT RD, so hang in there.

marines4me:
Never apologize for a decision that is right for you. Each candidate must weigh their options, carefully consider the ramifications of each path, and then move forward. What is a good fit for one is not always a good fit for another.

I wish you all the opportunity to make the decision yourselves (rather than having the options limited by the various schools to which you have applied.)
Happy Holidays

Davy, I hate waiting, too! Congratulations to those of you w/ LOAs, that's awesome.
I hope I hear some kind of good news soon and that I can swing a nomination. My interview with my congressman is the day after tomorrow.

marines and navygirl,
I want you two to have good time and enjoy yourselves. Go to Harvard and Georgetown. My english teacher chose the academy over Yale and that must have been hard to turn down.

I had my last interview for a nomination to USNA this past Saturday. I think I did a good job and hopefully will get a spot out of the 17 who applied. I am 0 for 2 with the Senators, but I have a good feeling about this one. Should know before Christmas (what a nice present that would be!), and if it's not good news, well then, I guess USNA is just going to have to miss out on me for a year! But I don't think that will be happening!

Davygravy: Hang in there. From the various postings I've read, USNA is notorious for testing your patience.

Let us know when you receive your nomination.

Don't feel left out. As I mentioned previously, our son had his package completed in August and received his qualified letter in late October. His interview with our congressional rep. isn't scheduled until January 15th.
