Hedgefund/Econ question

I am a senior in highschool and will be majoring in econ next fall at one of the top economics programs in the world. My dream is to someday become a hedge fund manager. What must I do to succeed in econ besides earning high marks from professors? Should I be starting now looking at internships though I have no background in econ? Are there tricks to breaking into the field? Or should I just relax for now? Though I have not taken AP Econ I have taken a number of challenging math courses and enjoy both international relations + math.

Please give me your input, thank you!
