Hedrick Summit

I was wondering two main things.

First, how many other First years on here got singles in Hedrick Summit?
I know I saw one other posting in another thread, and I'm wondering how many more there are.

Also, does anyone who's been in Hedrick have any comments about it?
I know it's far from most things, at the top of the hill...any other pros/cons?
Do the suites of singles often socialize, or do most people keep to themselves?
Advice about Hedrick? (i.e. wear comfortable shoes, you'll be walking quite a bit)
Anything else?

hey I’m a first year and I also got a single in Hedrick Summit.

I guess it’s sociability all depends on us… haha Im wondering the same stuff as you.

For the most part, people keep to themselves in the suite. I live in a single now and I rarely see my other suitemates because everyone seems to stay pretty busy. I would not recommend it to a freshman… I mean it’s nice having privacy but you will just have to make the extra effort to meet people and join clubs/orgs so you can establish your friends because Hedrick Summit is not that social, but then again it’s what you make of it so it can work out. It’s just a very different experience compared to living in a res hall.

My son will be a freshman and got HS. My theory is that he put fitness and athletics as interests and the housing peeps figured he could handle the hike. Isn’t there common areas for rec and studying? I can’t imagine people don’t socialize?

Hedrick Summit is a really nice building. There are 2 lounges on every floor along with at least 1 study room. It really does all depend on you whether or not you have friends. What I would recommend is after you move in go knock on doors and introduce yourself to people on your floor. Once everyone is settled in the RAs will have events with your floor like group dinners and stuff. These are great opportunities to start getting to know the people around you.

Also, make friends with your orientation group. They’re my main group of friends still :D.
