The awesome food doesn't really matter as you can eat anywhere you want. As for the other things, I suppose that a lot of freshmen do end up there as returning students would hate the more difficult and longer walk.

But as far as the physical aspects of the building, it's virtually identical to the other residence halls, but is one of the older ones. So unfortunately, the size of a triple is the same as a double --- maybe about 10'x15'. The shower stalls are pretty much like a public restroom stall. There is no separate changing area, unlike parts of Rieber and the now closed Sproul.

Can't really comment on much else, but just to summarize it all up: Hedrick, or any residence halls in general, won't be what one would desire as far as comfort and attractiveness goes, but adaptable. People generally don't choose residence halls for its facility, but rather for the social environment and/or financial reasons.

freshman-oriented

awesome food (not just hedrick, but nearby rieber vista and an improving rieber)

as for "helluva walk to campus," dont feel bad, all the rieber vista, rieber terrace, and hedrick summit kids have a similar walk now, so it's not like you guys are the only ones banished to the top of the hill. besides, it's good exercise to fight the freshman 15.

i've never lived in hedrick but i've visited my friends there. the rooms and everything are basically the same as any other res hall. the only major differences i saw were 1) more washing machines and dryers and 2) hyper and sociable freshmen

actually hedrick does have separate changing stalls in the showers on the north side but not the south. rieber has separate changing stalls in the south but not the north.

it honestly isn't that bad; the walk isn't as long as people make it out to be and we now have nearby food(rendezvous). i lived there last year, and i'll be there next year due to my horrible signup time, though in a double both years.
even if you have a triple, it shouldn't matter too much cuz you wont spend much time in your room other than sleeping
