Hello I am new here and any help would be appreciated for the following colleges.

Now I am no genius or anything like that and I am not planning to go to Yale, Harvard, NYU etc...here are my stats

I am a senior at a public high school in NJ (Monmouth County, my high school is public and top 10 in the state). My GPA is 2.78 (not great I know) and my SAT score is 1630, 520 match, 560 reading and 550 writing. 20 hours of community work and I was in a church youth group for a few months. I was involved with soccer for two years and I wasn't able to try out the other two times because I was in Croatia for the whole summer visiting family. I have a job, working 25-28 hours a week.

The schools that I am looking at are: Rutgers NB, Kean, Montclair, Temple, Monmouth and William Paterson.

I know Rutgers is a reach but everybody I talk to say I will be accepted which I truely don't believe, Temple will also be a reach. Monmouth is a safety but too expensive while not really sure about Kean, WP, and Montclair but I heard they have a good reputation here locally.

I think that you have picked reasonable schools to apply to. I do think that Rutgers is a reach for you. You might consider commuting to Monmouth U if you live close enough to the university. It is a very nice campus.

yeah I live about 10-15 minutes away from Monmouth University. Rutgers is my #1 choice though even though I probably have no chance. Monmouth is actually low on that list because it is pretty expensive

I think Rowan is more of a reach. I think you could get into Rider, but without $$, it is expensive. I forgot about Rider. I don't know what stats are at Richard Stockton. You also could try Pace U, but that could be expensive; I would call see if you can get $ from them.

The schools that you listed being below $10,000, that is for instate tuition, but does not include room and board, and books. I think you have a good list.

So what do you think my chances are, percentage wise, so far I know Rutgers is about a 5% chance although my friends say I'll get in no problem confused

I could not give a %. It would be a wild guess that means nothing. Your math sat score is 50 points below the 25%. Your reading score is within the average range. Your gpa is low, so it is a reach, but it is rolling, so if everything is complete you will find out soon. Some kids in my son's school have had their acceptances for a few weeks already, but most have not heard yet.

Rutgers admission is online and the due date is coming up but my counselor tells me that they give their decisions in a short period of time. I am actually visiting the campus tomorrow. What I hear is that Rutgers are very into work experience/outside of school activities and that sort and they would accept me because I'm in-state but I'm am not totally sure

Rowan is not as selective as they appear on paper. Thier average SATs are pushed up because of engineering programs. I live about 10 minutes from Rowan, I can assure you I know kids with worse stats who have gotten in.

Also, the Richard Stockton campus is beautiful

went to the Rutgers campus today and plan to go again in two weeks, very nice campus but the event was very unorganized, I guess they were not expecting that many people to come.

Also went to Kean today too, nice campus but too be honest I am a little concerned about the area around the campus but I really liked it though
