"Hellesley"

What's up with that nickname, even if it's not that often used? Does it really get that excruciating at times?

I'm seriously considering attending Wellesley, but I want to get an idea of how hard it's going to be. Not that I'm going to slack off, but senior year has been horribly stressful and I'm not sure if I can handle another year of similar pressure. (I think I underestimated the power of 5 APs.)

Hellesley. Haven't heard that one used before. Cute. I should pass it on to my friends. I did five APs in Senior year, a job, and oodles of other things, so I know what you mean. You should be fine at Wellesley. I think that the biggest source of stress here is overcommitment and procrastination (what I am doing right now typing this). They don't let you do five classes in your first semester anyway. The type of people who go to Wellesley, would honestly make themselves as busy at any other institution. While poeple DO party and have fun here, Wellesley isn't a party school. People come here for the academics. In fact, the academics and atmosphere help people jump over the hurdle of no boys to come here. That's why people take school so seriously I think.
I don't know you at all, and some people do feel REALLY stressed here, but I think they bring it on themselves. If you are worried about stress, make a serious commitment to youself about how many things you are going to do. Don't overload your courses (on the other hand, don't not take a "for majors" course because you're scared of stress). Come in ready to be good to yourself, wherever you go, and you'll be fine.

(back to work - :-P)

hey, thanks, Wendy. Yeah, I'm shouldering 5 APs and a job (and procrastination, right here), so it looks like college will be definitely easier. I think I got the "Hellesley" nickname from The Insider's Guide to Colleges. Then again, it's compiled by Yale students. Who knows. Yes, I'm going back to work now too.
