I've looked all over the internet to figure out what schools to apply to and have kind of narrowed it down. But I'm wondering if anyone has a sibling, friend, relative or whatever who has gone to any of the following schools and has anything to say about them. I'm going to visit some and what to know if they're worth it.

agnes scott
grinnell
reed
hendrix
rhodes
earlham
vassar
bard
millsaps
lewis & clark
macalester

Came across your Helllpp thread and saw no one had yet replied. Sorry, be reinded that patience is a blessing.

A friend went to Grinnell and really enjoyed it. In fact, if you ask her about it, she won't shut up. How's that for a recommendation? Yeah, it's rural, but it's very friendly and has strong community feel. My D and I visited, and she applied. She hasn't told me, but I'd bet it's her first choice.

She also applied to Reed, but we haven't visited (we're midwest). If she's accepted, we certainly will. I've heard great things about it, but because of its reputed intensity and culture, a visit would be an absolute.

Someone who's more of an acquaintence went to Bard. She's quirky and always has her own ideas on things, which we (mrs. and I) like even though we don't have the same perspective on many things. She talked about Bard as a very creative atmosphere. I've heard that generally, but again, any school seriously to be considered must be visited. Good luck!

I visited Bard and Vassar last week with my D. Vassar was in a better location, but my D thought it was kind of creepy- old buildings and the dorms weren't great. She hated Bard. It was in a very remote area and the students seemed to be trying too hard to be different. Sort of in your face flaunting sexual orientation and style. Both of these school were a disappointment because they seemed like good fits from the web sites and viewbooks. It does pay to visit.
