Hello again, parents. You have become a source of wonderful advice for me, and you have definitely helped me with my Asperger's Syndrome. I wanted to start a thread on a distrurbing observation I made the other day.

I was watching some engineering students (all ECE) in the college cafeteria the other day. They sat at the same table. As I was observing their behavior, I was disturbed by something. They didn't talk to each other hardly at all. They sat there and ate their food. The only thing that anyone talked about was one guy talking about episodes of a TV show. No one else spoke at all, despite the fact that they were at the same table. They were acting like drones, like they had no life in them.

Is this typical of engineering students? I'm an engineering student, and even though I don't socialize that much, I at least try to show my emotions, I at least try to talk to people. They say I am antisocial, but the ECE students seem more so than me. Sigh, the biology students I attend class with have more life in them. I have the most wonderful TA for zoology class. She laughs and all of us talk about birds, fish, and lots of exciting and cool stuff. Not so in ECE. It's like a different world over there.

No one is excited about their field, no one wants to be an engineer, and it shows. I'm the only person in the department who actually has an internship this summer outside of the defense industry.

Sorry to make this rant, but I had to talk to someone about it. Thank you for your comments.
