Hello all! New to the Forum.

I'm going to be starting Junior year in 4 days. I have taken the ACT four times, most recently was as follows: Composite-26
Language-28
Math-26
Reading-26
Science-24
My goal is to make a 28. I do not feel like I have learned much from the last test and the next one is coming up in less than 6 weeks. Here are some questions...

Does having a graphing calculator help?

What material should I practice on to improve my score (i.e. specific name brand test booklets)?

3.Does anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks All in Advance!!!

Wow 4 times and you’re starting junior year. You don’t have to take every ACT that comes around, if you’re not going to be ready in 6 weeks why not wait a bit and practice?

Also, have you considered the SAT? Often those who struggle with one test do quite well on the other.

you are taking the exam too often and even if you reach you 28, it can come back to hurt you if colleges are aware how many times you took the exam to achieve your 28.

you are better off buying a book and studying for the exam and taking it once more as a senior.

^ Agreed. Especially if it shows up on your high school transcript. And some colleges do ask you to report all the times you’ve taken it. Do NOT keep taking it at every test date, lol, that’s just silly. It’s a waste of money for one thing (your parents have paid for all of these???) and you won’t see a big improvement.

My advice is to try the SAT maybe, prep for a long time and then give it ONE last shot during junior year or at the beginning of senior year.
If you’ve already registered, just prep alot and make this your last time.
The Real ACT book (red book) is good. Good luck and I hope you get your 28.

Thanks all for your input! I am applying to the University of Alabama. My siblings have taken the test every time it was given since Freshman year of High School. They were not prompted as to how many times they have taken it. But it does become tedious.
