Hello Newbie here

Hi I am an upcoming senior applying to Schools mainly in East coast and maybe in some exceptions (UOregon, UDenver, Lewis and Clark, etc).

I have SAT score of 1700 and have not taken any subject test yet.

I have GPA of 3.4 with no AP course taken yet, will be taking 2 in my senior fall.

I have been involved with school wrestling team and soccer team.

I know that I am not even close to an elite student, but will you tell me some good school I might fit into? My interest is Political Science, Economics, International Affairs, and I might apply as undecided. (If anyone knows, will you tell me if acceptance is same by applying undecided or specific major?)

Thank you

Also I am an international student studying in pretty known private highschool.
and it would be nice if you could tell me if it is easy to fit into white-school, or low international student rate school for international student with English not first language

thank you!

I’m going to give an answer so your question bumps back up to the front page - I’m not an expert on Eastern schools, so I can’t speak for them. I do know that Lindenwood University in St. Louis area has a large (> 25%) international population and have met one student there who studied Political Science and liked it a lot. Still, it probably doesn’t meet your criteria.

Most colleges below the sacrosanct HYP types are going to be fine with an undecided or only slightly decided major as your first year in most majors is relatively the same in many cases (General Education Requirements).

thank you very much for the reply

I would recommend Syracuse (in NY), University of Buffalo (NY), Florida Atlantic University (Florida), North Carolina State (North Carolina), and maybe UMass Amherst (Massachusettes)

Thank you smithg1227

I went to syracuse and Umass Amherst for the college visit, and liked them both.

However, since I am international I am not sure if I can fit into them?

Is it better to apply to smaller school with higher international student ratio?

(because I have been struggling to fit into my preppy high school, where most white people hang out with white and so on)

thankyou

Might be a bit of a reach with your stats, but American Univ in DC sounds like a good fit for your interests.
