Hello World!

<p>Hello, I'm Garr, nom de plume, and I am going to be starting my 5th year of college and I am a triple major: Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. I signed up here because I have used this site before and have found some pretty good advice and that's what I really need now. Here's my story.</p>

<p>I started at a community college not entirely sure what I wanted to major in. I just knew I wanted it to be in the field of chemistry and planned on transferring out with an associates in liberal arts. Then after a year I realized I wanted my associates in Biotechnology. The community college I was going to had a really good program for Biotechnology that essentially gave you the last two years of upper-level Bio-chem and a bunch of lab-experience.
I met with an advisor and was told I should be able to complete the degree within a year and a half, leaving me at only 2.5 years at this community college. At the end of my second year I met with another advisor and was told "bullocks, that's impossible" and that I would have to stay for another full year. I decided that was "bullocks" and that I did not want to stay at a community college for 3 years, so I transferred to a liberal arts college. It doesn't stop there though.
After meeting with admissions, they didn't want to freely admit me to the school because i only had a 2.5 G.P.A. and had received only a B and then a D in my chemistry classes.
We ended up working out a deal, that sounded good at the time, to where I would enter the evening college for a year and take one day class the rest evening classes for a total of 12 credit hours. Part of doing this was so I could take it a little easy my first year there, catch my bearings, learn the ropes etc...That didn't work out. You see, there evening classes are only 8 weeks long, as opposed to the full semester, AND they just switched to a four credit school, so now there was a third more material crammed into half the time. Instead of "learning the ropes" I had to bust ass just to do well. I did end up with a 3.1 but I was pretty strung out by the end of it (and I took some summer classes).
Now for the full year as a traditional student; I did not do well. I had to take multiple high level classes that I had explicitly told my advisors I was not ready for but received a "Well you have to take them NOW because we won't be offering the course again for another two years" and I had to take a full 18 credit course load. I also found out some of the classes I had to take I could have easily tested out of...Would of been good to know ahead of time.</p>

<p>Also, I have been having to take extra classes because I did not fulfill my associates before leaving the community college, so essentially I had to fill 2 years of gen eds in, much of wich I had already taken :(</p>

<p>So this is where I sit now. I can either stay for a full year on top of this one and get all three degrees and improve my G.P.A to a 3.5 (wich is realistic) so I can try to get into a MD/PhD program (wich is my ultimate goal). I can finish just this year with a degree in chemistry and not have a shot at any Graduate program and have to settle for a 14$ an hour job working as a bench chemist, if I'm lucky, or I can transfer after this next semester back to my community college receive my associates and be a certified E.M.T. (which pays well and gives me training in med school AND i would really enjoy the job). I really don't know what to do with my life at this point :/</p>

<p>Advice is greatly appreciated and I hope you all have a wonderfull day.</p>
