Hello. you should help me.

1 =New York University [CAS or Gallitan] -undecided or Econ

2 =University of California - San Diego

3 = Boston University

Carnegie Mellon University
University of California - Davis
University of California - Santa Barbara
University of Michigan
University of Texas at Austin

ACT: 31

FRESHMAN YEAR: 2.33 [I moved to the US in 2000, and freshman year was 2003. English was my first language, BUT: I was not familiar with the US system. I was rather confused and disillusioned with no help at all, therefore: no motivation + lack of effort= bad GPA] not an excuse, but those were my minor, unexcusable, issues.

SOPHMORE YEAR: 3.4
JUNIOR YEAR: 3.5 [4.0 W]

not allowed AP's before 11th

AP STAT
AP MICROECONOMICS
AP MACROECONOMICS
AP USH
H PHYSICS
SOCIALOGY H
PYSCHOLOGY H

The following Courses are not included in my GPA, but they should add a number of points depending on the college. [expect like junior+ sophmore =3.7-3.85 UW]

Business certificate:

Intro to Business- A [grade]
Principles of Managment- A [grade]

Film Certificate:

Intro to Film studies: A
Digital Film production I: A
Digital Fil Production II : A

Eagle Scout
Leadership training
Volunteer work at various, recognized places: ~200 hours
Golf academy, 6 years
NHS, 2years
FBLA 2 years
Piano, 7 years
Amnesty International, 3 years
Work with the United States army and soldiers returning from Iraq.
Rotary Interational leadership training.

As you can see, my parents and I have put in a lot of work into
leadership training and people skills. Very important in my
intended major and work field. Upenn [Wharton] and similar
schools [Stern] puts a premium on

this, but unfortunatley neither my grades or SAT scores are good
enough. [Thats why I'm not applying, frankly, why waste $60? I
could buy a new pair of pants or something ;]

In general, Business administration would aptly describe my
major. At NYU College of Arts and Science, it would be
Economics. At Boston, it would be every business aspect at their
School of Managment.

NYU is my first choice, and I realize that my GPA is
significantly below the middle 50%. BostonU is my second.

Honors:
Eagle Scout
White stag leader
Golf, I have an opportunity to turn pro this summer.

For those who aren't familiar with Scouting [I'll try my best
without sounding too pompous]

You are eligible at age 11, and finish at 18. It is everything
one could look for in molding a child and turning him into a
young, articulate, responsible adult. Seven years is a long
time, with thousands of hours pumped into one activity.
Leadership skills are acquired at a young age and are honed as
the canidate ages. Public speaking ability, confidence, moral
values are all acquired. Please do not underestimate this. Tell
me if I am overestimating it as well.

Location: California
I am a Junior.

My senior course load includes 3 AP classes, 2 regular, and
concurrent community college classes.

Thank you.

isn't anyone going to answer?

thebrown:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCSB/UCD: Match

thanks Flopsy. Also, the UC's have been really random this year. Do you think 3.9 W/ 3.4 UW + 2000 SATs actually get into UCLA?

my school sent a few there this year...PERFECT people got rejected and 1950s+ 3.5 got accepted!

thebrown, you have good stats, but you don't come across as an "overachiever" with those stats. You seem like more of the All-American stats, so you may get into NYU and you may not especially is you're a non-minority. I got a 33 on the ACT, and I was accepted into NYU, but I'm also black.

err...sorry I don't quite understand your post darkknight. =/

what do you mean by "all-american"?

and also, I KNOW my stats aren't good enough for the schools I've chosen[ especially Carnegie and NYU]...like I'm trying to be realistic. I'm doing NYU ED, but not necessarily holding my breath...

bump.............

You have a good list of reaches/matches/safety.
Apply and see what happens.

thebrown:

UCLA: Reach

thanks Flopsy!......

It looks like you have decent chances.

UCSD- Match/slight reach (lots of people got in with worse grades than taht)
UCD/UCSB - match
your gpa is a bit low, but your act's are okay and you have a good reason to have low gpa

btw in cupertino, almost everyone with 3.7+ gpas got in

oh really?

3.7 W?

oh wait you go to CHS right?

hmm...like Rohan?

LOL ROHAN
me and that kid are homies

hey wahts your name? i bet i know you

yeah 3.7 weighted

lol you might

Bharat

I'm buddies with Rohan, Vik, Ayub etc.

:] whats yours?

bump.........

chs??? where do you guys live..my school is kinda chs,,,

"As you can see, my parents and I have put in a lot of work into
leadership training and people skills"

Umm..I don't really see that. Many people who aren't even focusing on leadership have more training in that area (president of clubs, class council, etc)

you know "sup"

if you actually read it

and also, you need to understand my background, and if you make ill-informed comments like that, you obviously don't understand. I'm not saying I have spectacular EC's, because I don't. You have no idea how much work goes into a single activity, I've easily put in upwards of 7000 hours over six years. So if you say that lacks commitment or leadership, eat my s h i t.

don't mean to offend or defend, I just hate it when people make baseless comments. Class presidents and club leaders have leadership, but it is very limited, with limited resources, a relatively small audience, and how to these "leaders" get postitions anyway? It depends on how "well-liked" one is, not necessarily directly related to their skills/talents.

I don't think I have overplayed a bit, but if I had, you can tell me so...just don't be illerate about it.
