Hello everyone, I have been reading these forums quite a bit recently as my friend recieved 2 congresional nominations a couple days ago. As you all know, the summer seminar application is coming out soon, and the application process for all juniors in High School will start very shortly!

SO, I firstly wanted to introduce myself. My name is David, I'm a junior in High School and I live in Michigan. I have a couple friends that have gone to the Academy and they LOVE it.

I really wanted to get in touch with other people my age and situation just simply to chat. I don't know about everyone here, but it is very very difficult for me to stay calm when I start thinking about whether or not I will get accepted into the Academy. I read these forums and my blood starts rushing. I feel I am qualified for the Academy, but I still CAN'T TAKE IT SOMETIMES. So, if you feel the way I do, just scream.

Well David, I'm not your age but you seem to be in the same situation as most of the people on this board (perhaps a year younger). I suspect you'll eventually get to where you want to be -- it will just take longer than you want -- and your challenge will be to be patient! Best of luck!

David, if you think you are bad -just try talking to a few of us parents.

It seems to me that WE PARENTS are the ones going more crazy than our amazing, talented, gifted, patriotic, intelligent children!

I know I drive my poor daughter crazy with watching the calendar. Ahhhhh, being born in New York of Italian heritage does come with certain predetermined behaviors!! :-)

Congratulations on your desire to get an Appointment for the Class of '11. In the words of our BGO to our daughter in her Junior Year: "PERSEVERE!"

Oh gosh, I know how all the parents get so nervous for their children. My friend has applied to the Academy, (the one who has recieved two nominations) and his parents are more nervous than him! His mother talks about it like she will die if he doesn't get accepted! I guess that is a good thing though, that's awesome support from the parents. At least they don't just ignore their child and let them ... worry? about it on their own. Ok talk to you later!

-David

PS. Theory2011, I have added your s/n to AIM. Hope to talk to you soon

Haha, yes my family is very much into trains. We have about 20 engines (Lionel) , and our biggest baddest one is the Dash-9. It's black and it's loud. I love it.

Dash-9, I went to NASS 2nd week and i loved it. It was probably the most rewarding experience i've had. I've been accepted to NAPS, but i'm 16, so that puts me close to your age. Apply early!

Wow, you are only 16, and you have been accepted into NAPS?!!! Ok, I better research NAPS a little bit more..lol. Would you be willing to enlighten me on the precedures, etc for applying to NAPS? Thank you very much!

Oh, what I wanted to ask you is: Are you still planning to apply to the USNA? Or since you have been accepted into NAPS, are you for sure going to NAPS after high school? Talk to you later

You can't apply directly to NAPS. I applied to USNA but my math SAT scores were a little short to warrant a direct appointment. However the admissions boad looked at everything else and decided i wasn't a bad kid, so they offered me an appointment to NAPS. At NAPS, they'll try to stregnthen my academic background.

I'm 16 right now, but i'll turn 17 three months before NAPS I-day, which makes me age qualified.

Oh, very cool. If you don't mind me asking, could you tell me your SAT scores? Mine arn't very good either, but of course I'll be retaking it a number of times. Please, if you wish to tell me your scores, send them to me via private message, or if you don't want to send them to me at all, TOTALLY cool. Thanks for the info.
