Hello

Given the fact that I copied exactly from the letter that my son received as of October 14, 2006

You must mean October 14, 2005, unless this is back to the future. :)

In my sons case the two boxes checked were the nomination and B&G Interview.

I believe you. USNA Admission must have changed the policy for this year's process.

The offers are contingent upon passing the DodMERB, CFA, getting a Nomination and successful completion of senior year.

My son's LOA had the same contingencies with the exception of the nomination (probably because he already has a Presidential). They also gave him until 15 Oct 2006 to submit all of the paperwork required in the Candidate Kit or they would rescind the LOA.

You can get an LOA without the DODMERB/CFA/Nonimation./BGO interview He just won't get an appointment until all things are successfully completed.

OregonMom brings up an important point.

Do not make the mistake of confusing and LOA with an appointment. They are not one and the same, nor does having one necessarily guarentee you the other.

There have been many posts on here of those very instances, where an LOA did not equate to an appointment. Lots can happen. Dip in grades. Inability to gain a nomination. Injury. Poor recommendation. Lots.

Even with a coveted appointment in hand, there is no time to relax. Last semester grades have to hold up. You need to remain injury free. You need to maintain that clean record...so no getting into trouble.

Appointees have even been sent home on I-Day,the result of physicals and medical DQ's.

Don't count on anything until you are sworn in on I-Day. Even then, don't count on anything until 2300 hrs lights out. Then Plebe Summer. Then plebe year. Then the rest of your time there. Up until commissioning. Get your commission, and you can breathe a sigh of relief....from what I have been told, that, too, is far too brief. And so it goes.

Best of luck to everyone!

You have no idea....

okay guys. for the candidate kit, i finsihed my CAR (candidate activities record). I submitted it and everything, but my counslor said that she has yet to recieve it. i'm thinking i typed in the wrong email address. Is there a way to confirm this? Should I call my regional director or soemthing?

Did you check the "Sent" box in your e-mail? Might be as simple as that.

the candidate kit is on a site itself. it tells you if you're done with everything. i typed in the name and email of the counslor but i'm not sure if it's right. and there's no way for me to check it, i see no link on the site. Currently it says "Waiting for submission from [counslor's name here]."

i'm not really sure what you mean Zaphod by checking the "sent" box in my email. I didn't send it from my email, sent it from the candidate kit on the online application dealie.

Sorry. The intraweb didn't exist in my day, so the details of the new processes are something I'm beyond rusty on. I was thinking regular e-mail.

If all else fails, I'd recommend calling the Candidate Guidance Office (or whatever they call it these days) and asking them. Just don't wait too long.

oh, don't be sorry. i'm glad that you even replied within a minute of my post. i'm beyond happy that there are people out here who are helping out the young kiddos like me.

Call up CGO or e-mail them/ They are helpful.

The same thing happened to me. In my case, it was the filter on my counselor’s email. Make sure they check their junk mail folders also. If that doesn't work, just shoot your regional director an email and they can check the email on file.

Hope this helps.

oh i called up my regional direction. she said she resent the email, and my counslor finally got it. hurray.
