<p>Alright, so I really like Dartmouth, it's environment, everything. It's my number 1 choice, so I was wondering how you think I'll do. Plus I'd like some advice!</p>
<p>GPA:
4.0 unweighted, 4.9 weighted (A+ in honors=4.8; A in AP = 5.0)</p>
<p>Rank:
1/350+</p>
<p>SATs:
2290 (800R, 760M, 730W)</p>
<p>SAT 2s:
800 Math 2
790 Bio M
790 US History
(760 Chem--but I won't send. I mean, I can pick and choose what to send, right??)</p>
<p>APs Taken:
English Lang - 5
US History - 5</p>
<p>This Year's Schedule:
AP English Lit (I took honors first term and got an A+)
AP Spanish Lang (A+ first term)
AP Euro History (A+ first term)
AP Chemistry (A+ first term)
AP Biology (A+ first term)
AP Calc AB (A+ first term)
Alright, another question. Will Dartmouth see my semester grades? They come out in late January, so my application will be in before then. I sort of only want them to see my first term grades.</p>
<p>ECs:
Library docent during my study for the last 3 years (5 hours/week)
Gay-Straight Alliance - 3 years; VP junior year; President senior year
Science Olympiad - 3 years; VP junior year
School Climate Club - 3 years; VP junior and senior year

nursing home volunteer - 3 years; 2 hours/week
NHS - 2 years
YESS (environmental club) - senior year
Civil Rights Team - freshmen year (it got disbanded)
**Also a volunteer for a daycare for the mentally disabled this summer. It lasted a couple of weeks, because it was the end of summer and school started so I couldn't go anymore due to schedule conflicts. =(</p>
<p>Awards:
math award sophomore year; nominated for foreign language
foreign language award junior year; nominated for history
"Best of the Bunch" award winner thrice
Science olympiad - placed 4th in states for chemistry, numerous regional medals</p>
<p>Recs:
AP Chemistry teacher - 35+ years of teaching, application reader at MIT, great rec.
Either English or history teacher - not sure which I'll choose yet. I need to actually get them, (oops) but probably my AP Lang teacher.
Peer - meh, it'll be okay.</p>
<p>Essay:
No idea! I want to know if this sounds stupid: a metaphor about this bush off of which I had to pick trash. Like, for the environmental clean-up. The bush wrapped around me and scratched the crap out of me, but I kept at it. It was thorny! Anyway, maybe I'll write my essay about perseverance, maybe about being gay or school in general?</p>
<p>Hmm. I'm not sure if there's anything that could really make me "stand out." Damn my inability to feed orphans in Kenya or play sports.</p>
